Some of the highlights I had this week consist of helping the students, helping the teacher with what she needs help with, and making apple smiles with them, this week was really fun. Some of the challenges I had consist of helping the students with vowels and their spelling words, the students had the spelling words the past five weeks and this is review list and they still can't spell them right even with the list in front of them. That is all my highlights of this week.
This week I was really impressed with some of the slower learners in the classroom. They're really catching on to the material they're being taught. There is a specific boy I've been working with who is a slower learner, and he was asked a question about the letter C. He answered it not only correctly but loud and with confidence. :) It made me super happy. Honestly, I haven't faced many challenges this week other than sharpening a bunch of pencils and getting a blister. :)
This week the students learned the 11 capitalization rules. My teacher used body motions for the students to learn the rules. It was the highlight of the week because the practiced and practiced it. Some didn’t get it but when they did it was amazing. There were challenges this week like them learning the rules and the movements of it. Plus one girl I have been working one-on-one is learning but the class is moving forward and she can’t yet until she understands the basic multiplication. She understands division but not the steps, which is kind of frustrating because you need to know multiplication for the steps and she doesn’t know them yet. Even though it’s frustrating sometimes I really enjoy the classroom.
Some of the highlights have been working with all the kids, I got to work with new students and got to help them out. I got to grade a lot more papers and on Thursday I got to teach a lesson and do an activity with the kids. I have not had any challeneges within my classroom. I love going into my classroom and I will miss my class very much. (:
A highlight of this week was on Wednesday. The elementary school is "Going Green." A few months ago, they put solar panels in. On Wednesday, they finally put up a windmill. One of the secretaries came over the P.A. system and said for all classes to go outside. It took 45 minutes, but we got to watch the windmill get put into place. As it inched up, all the students cheered. It was pretty neat. I don't think I had any challenges this week.
Some of the highlights of this week were that I got to give my kids an oral test in Social Studies. It was a new experience and I enjoyed every bit of it from answering all the students questions to repeating everything a hundred times! So far I can say that I have not had any challenges so far in my classroom. It has been so much fun working with my students every day. I'm going to really hate leaving them next week.
Some of the highlights from my week where being able to work with my students more one-on-one with math and their writing assignment. The class had two subs this week so it was interesting to see how the class would react. They were a little bad, not listening to the teacher and acting out. I actually had to yell and tell the students to sit down and listen to the sub. I did not like doing that too much.
Highlights of this week was helping the students. I have seen many improvements in the students in Mrs. Hatfield's classroom. I really did not have any challenges. The only challenge I faced was some students really did not want to listen, the were constantly getting in trouble. Besides that week five was awesome. I did a lot of reading to the students and we took our first spelling test. I am sad that next week is my last week with Mrs. Hatfield's class.
One of the biggest challenges I faced this week was the fact that I had to assist a substitute teacher. My teacher went to the doctors and I had to help a sub. It was kind of difficult to know what she wanted me to do and not do. I did what I normally do and nothing more unless she asked me to do it. It was great that I get to interact with the kids a little more.
This week was a challenging week for me. I had to deal with a social reality that made my heart ache for one of my students. My Mentor had a lot on her mind this week with this situation so I stepped it up as much as I could. This was the only challenge that I faced this week. The rest of the week went very well, I love the students and I am not ready to leave.
One of my challenges was when Mr. Wells' stepped out of the room for like 15 minutes and I was incharge. The students were to work on their worksheet and be quiet. One of the studnets wouldn't quit talking after I told him 3 times to stop, so I made him flip his card to yellow. I kind of felt bad about afterwards but it's what I had to do. The rest of the week was good though.
The highlight of this week was the students bar graph with m&m's. It took them all week to complete but they had a lot of fun eating the m&m's and learning all about bar graphs. Another challenge for me was testing the students fluency. It was hard not to help them but the eventually got the words and did very well. I read a lot to the students again this week. Some of the students we're getting in fights but other than that I really enjoyed week five. I think I'm going to miss the students from Mrs. Williams class when I leave next week. I am really enjoying interacting with the kids and it's been a lot of fun.
The biggest challenge I faced this week was at recess when Ms. Kneppell yelled at one of the kids for diving for the kickball, which she then instructed me to remove any kid from the game that did this. So natrually when a kid decided to dive for the kickball I had to tell him to leave the game and he started crying and I did not know what to do. The highlight of my week was when I got to help Mrs. Rogers with her geography lesson and answer all of the students random questions about different countries.
I am a teacher at Buckeye Career Center! This is my 10th year of teaching; however, it's my third year as the Teaching Professions instructor. I am a graduate of Kent State University where I received my degree in Social Studies Education. I have also attained my Master's degree in Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction through Walden University. I have been married for ten years. My husband and I have two children, Chloe and Carson. We are also expecting our third child in January.
