Now that you are almost finished with your MS rotation, share your overall impression of this particular grade level. Was it a positive experience? Have you changed your mind about possibly teaching MS? Why or Why Not?
I've really come to love my middle school class and the content being taught. Middle school is something I would like to possibly work in but overall I think I would rather teach high school or college level mathematics. It was a positive experience though and I enjoyed it more than I thought it would
After being in my middle school rotaion for the past five weeks my impression has changed. At first I did not like being there and it was hard to really be excited about being there. But now that I have been there for a while and I got to know the students well. I like being there now and I believe it turned out to be a positive experience. This has not changed my mind I still want to teach early childhood. They are what I love to teach and be around.
Seventh graders would be a great grade to work with but I don't think that its for me. I really am interested in the elementary setting. The MS rotation was interesting but I am glad I got to observe it and had the opportunity to help those students. I am really excited to move onto the net rotation. It was a postitive experience I never had any problems at all. I really enjoyed this rotation but middle school just doesnt seem right for me.
My experience at Dover Middle was positive because I learned a lot about middle scholars and a lot more about teaching. I have learned a lot but I would still never teach middle school. I would never teach middle school because it’s not for me and some seem older than they are so I think I would try to be their friend then their teacher. But overall I enjoyed having the chance to be in middle school.
The students have adjusted to me now so it isn't as bad as week one. I don't really like middle school level, but I had fun. A positive experience for me would be the students accepted me and also I got to use a SMART Board. I don't think I would be able to teach middle school. I don't like teaching the same thing period after period. I have enjoyed middle school but I enjoy elementary school more.
I love the 8th grade class. I like working with the older group of kids. I can relate better. This was a very positive experience. Yes because it is a better fit for me.
My sixth graders weren’t as bad as I thought they would be. They really enjoyed me being there. It was a really positive experience. But I don’t think I want to teach middle school. I liked being with the second graders more though.
My overall impression about the middle school was positive and a fun expierence. I really have enjoyed my time in getting to know the students and the way of the middle school. The rotation has not changed my mind about teaching at the middle school but, it has changed my ideas about how middle school students are. I am really going to miss the middle school and the students in it.
The middle school rotation flew by; I feel as though I just finished my first week there. I was impressed by the student's overall maturity and was surprised by how similar they act compared to high school students. It was a very positive experience. I definitly changed my mind. I was dreading middle school, because I had a bad middle school experience. After working with these kids, however, I have found that I really like working with Middle school students and I plan on teaching these students as a career.
Well I am ready to move on. I do like the students but I do not like the fact that I don’t get to spend the whole day with them. My overall impression of this age group is that they can be very lazy. Many of the students do not do their work and sleep in class. They don’t seem to care when they get a lunch detention. A positive aspect of the class is that they all seem to get along with each other and there are not a lot of issues with the students. Yes I have changed my mind deeply about this age group I really could not stand teaching this age group all day.
I worked with a seventh grade classroom. At first, I was really nervous, but now, I love it. My classes always kept me on my toes. I never knew what to expect from them. I got to work individually with some of them, and that was nice. Seeing the classes as a whole and working together, though, was something completely different. Most of the students were always nice to each other. There were the students that were better friends with each other rather than other people, but they were still nice to the other students around them. Being in this classroom was a positive experience. I really enjoyed it. I never thought that I would teach middle school, but this changed my mind. I think it would be fun, exciting, and more challenging. The students can be out of hand at times, but if you know how to keep control of a classroom, then you don't have that problem. I am really going to miss my middle school class.
My experience at the middle school grade level was good and i found out that i like it. This makes my descision on what i would like to teacher a lot more hard than i would like it to be though. I will miss my middle school classroom and Mrs. Smith. I have enjoyed my middle school rotation tremendously.
My overall middle school experience has been very entertaining. I really have enjoyed working with my 8th grade class. I have gotten to really get to know some of my students and I could really consider them a friend now that I have. I really feel that it was a very positive experience and it is making me look much more forward to my future.
I am a teacher at Buckeye Career Center! This is my 10th year of teaching; however, it's my third year as the Teaching Professions instructor. I am a graduate of Kent State University where I received my degree in Social Studies Education. I have also attained my Master's degree in Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction through Walden University. I have been married for ten years. My husband and I have two children, Chloe and Carson. We are also expecting our third child in January.
