Describe the classroom environment in which you are observing. (Is it inclusion, MH, a resource room, etc.?) What are some of the disabilities found within the classroom? What was your overall experience this week?
The classroom I am in is an inclusion classroom. There are 7 students with special needs and then 5 regualar students. One of the dissablities include autism I believe that most of the students do have a bit of autism. Two students don't talk at all and one doesn't have all formed body parts. They are both really small for their age also. My over all experience this week was good. I am excited for next week I am getting a lot more responsiblilty with the students.
This rotation, I am working with East Elementry. I will be working with all of the first grade, focusing on journals with the students who are in title, which are the students who don't qualify for special education, but are bearly passing their classes. Then I will be doing a vocabulary unit with with all first graders. My classes are inclusion classes. I love this rotation so far and I am excited for the next few weeks.
At East Elementary school I go to three different classes throughout the day. Two of the classes I am in they are inclusion classes then the other class I am in it is a resource room. In my inclusion classes there are students with IEP’s and a boy that the teachers feel he has an emotional disability. In the resource room the students have trouble with their cite words and work on them. Overall so far this is my favorite rotation and I am really enjoying my time at East. :)
At West Elementary I go to three different classrooms. Two of them are inclusion rooms and the other is a MH room. One of the disabilities I know is behaviorial problems, like getting extremely angry and everyone has to evacuate the classroom. Overall my week was very good, I like this rotation but first grade is still my favorite.
At Dover middle school I work with Mrs. Simmons and I start of in resource room, like a study hall setting, where I have a group of two boys that I help in their subjects, like studying for a test, or organizing their notebook. Then the next class I work one on one with an autistic student on how to count money. Then finally the last two classes we go around to different inclusion classrooms.
My class has a ESL student that speaks Spanish as his primary language. He speaks English fluently but he has a lot of problems with reading and writing that I help him with. I also work with the I.E.P students on various assignments.
The classroom that I am working in is an MH unit. One of the disabilites that are found in my classroom is down syndrom. My overall experience this week in my MH classroom has been amazing. I love working with the girls in Mrs. James class. They are all very loving and love the attention that anyone gives them. I am extremely excited for next week to start already.
My classroom this rotation is a small class. It is resource room. I found that one student has a speech impediment and a reading disability. My overall experience was great and I really like it.
I am in inclusion classes and a study hall. The disabilities in the classroom are like A.D.D and A.D.H.D. Kids have a hard time paying attention in class and they have a hard time spelling and listening and paying attention in general. I have realized that the kids depend on all of us. They need help with spelling and reading. They also need help with directions and reading papers and a deeper explaination to some things. This week was a great week. It was nice to feel like I was actually useful to the students and the teachers.
The classroom that I am in is a MH resource room. Some of the disabilities that I have found in the classroom is autism, and sever learning disabilities. While I was there I felt very uncomfortable. I think that I felt this way because I was not sure what to expect and I was not sure how the kids would react. I know that a lot of these students have adjusted to the teachers and I felt that I was ruining that process for them.
The classroom I am in is an intervention and resource room. Some of the disabilities I have encountered this week are students with down's syndrome, ADHD, emotional disabilities and other types. Other students have problems with reading and writing. This week has been a positive experience for me. I enjoyed the classroom environment and I enjoy working with the students. Next week should be just as exciting!
The environment that I'm in for this rotation is a MH unit. The disabilities within that classroom consist of severe autism, moderate autism, CP, and slow developmental growth. My classroom ranges from grades K-3. My experience this week was actually a really positive one. I was so nervous and scared on my first day, but I absolutely love being in there now. Miss Lefler and her two aids are very nice. All of the students are so cute and sweet. I've helped out several students, and it's just a great feeling. I really enjoy being in Miss Lefler's classroom. I can't wait until next week! :)
The classroom I am in is a MH unit. The students are capable of doing some work on their own but some of the students still need help. Some of the disiblities are down syndrome and autism. My overall experience was great. I love this rotation and I am so excited to get farther into the rotation. So far last week was my favorite week by far.
I am a teacher at Buckeye Career Center! This is my 10th year of teaching; however, it's my third year as the Teaching Professions instructor. I am a graduate of Kent State University where I received my degree in Social Studies Education. I have also attained my Master's degree in Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction through Walden University. I have been married for ten years. My husband and I have two children, Chloe and Carson. We are also expecting our third child in January.
