Identify and describe a few times during your rotations when you witnessed teachers being professional and unprofessional. How does professionalism pertain to teaching?
I have witnessed that a teacher I worked with tells the students lives to anyone who comes into the classroom. I am glad she is open with me and trusts me with the information but I do not like to get in the middle of the situations. Professionalism pretains to teaching because if your not professional as a teacher you will have problems with the administration and parents because your a role model to the students and its important to be professional.
In my rotations I have not seen any of them be unprofessional. In my classes that I have taken in past years I have seen teacher be unprofessional. Some teachers I had would swear in the classes. One talked about their personal life to much about them partying. Also, one teacher made jokes about the students way too much. Professional is an important part of teaching because kids do what they see.
I witnessed my rotation teacher this week do both things that were professional and unprofessional. The unprofessional thing she did was forget to write my letter of recommendation. She quickly typed one and got it to me on time though, and was very apologetic. She explained that she's been very busy this week because she is preparing for her husband's surgery. Something professional she did was when a student was extremely rude to her, she stayed calm, stepped out of the room, and had the principal talk to the student.
During my rotations I have not witnessed any unprofessional teachers I have had all great teachers. I have though in my high school career I have had a teacher use curse words and yell badly at a class. I have seen teachers be professional by keeping things confidential and not using favoritism with students. Being a teacher professionalism is the most important thing to keep things professional by dressing correctly and keeping the relationship between students as that relationship and not trying to be their friends
A few things that my mentor teacher has done that are professional are not cussing, dressing nicely, and treated students fairly. Something that he has done that wasn’t professional was walking on top of the students desks. But for the most part he’s really professional. Sometimes if teachers aren’t professional then it distracts the students.
In my rotation my teacher is very professional. She always dresses nicely, helps each girl equally, and never gets to angry. My rotation teacher has showed unprofessionalism by the other day hanging out the window of the hotel we were cleaning just tell get some fresh air! Professionalism pertains to teaching in many ways like their dress, their attitude, and their actions.
When a teacher is professional and unprofessional depends on their own values. In example if a student asks for a teacher not to tell anyone, what the student tells the teacher, and they do; that would be being professional. The unprofessional approach would be to not tell anyone knowing that the student will keep getting hurt. A huge way teachers can be professional and unprofessional is in the way they talk to their students. If a teacher uses curse words or yells a lot for no reason that is very unprofessional! It is very important for teachers to be very professional with the way they conduct their everyday rutine in their classrooms.
During my rotations I have not seen any un professionalism. The only thing lacking has been the clothes they wear, but it has not been that bad. What creates professionalism is a teacher respecting all students, and appearing in a nice way. One way the teachers in the rotations are professional is that they are always speaking to the students in a nice way. Teachers that are unprofessional yell at their stuends and are rude to them. I am glad I have not witnessed any unprofessionalism in the classroom rotations I have been in.
I usually see teachers acting professional in the dress appearence. If teachers are dressed well they usually look more professional. None of my teachers on my rotations have done anything unprofessional, but one of my social studies teachers had a regular habit of cussing at students whenever they didn't turn in homework, which was very unprofessional. Professionalism pertains to teaching in that if a teacher is unprofessional, they will lose the respect of their students, and the students will begin to model their teacher's poor behavior.
In all my rotations I have witnessed the teachers being professional. Throughout high school I have witnessed some teachers being unprofessional. I have had teachers who have cursed at us and made fun of us. I have also had some who have shared a lot of their personal life with us. I had a teacher who made rude comments about his family and his siblings, it was very offensive. It is very important to be professional and show your students proper manners. Professionalism pertains to teaching because all teachers need to dress and act professional. When a teacher is not professional they can have problems with the students and the student’s parents.
A time when I witnessed unprofessionalism was when I was in the teachers’ lounge eating lunch. I understand that when a teacher is not in the classroom and around adults they may act differently than they do in front of their students. What irritates me is when the teachers put done the students. In the teachers’ lounge a teacher referenced the IQ of one of the students to that of an empty container. This I feel is very unprofessional. Teachers need to dress neatly, treating students fairly. A time when I noticed a teacher showing professionalism was with Mrs. Host. She always dresses appropriately and does not talk bad about her students. I think that every teacher needs to show professionalism because it makes students give the teacher respect.
In my rotation now, my teachers are usually very professional. They all dress appropriately and talk to everyone in a professional manner. The only thing I notice that is some-what unprofessional is that they use their cell phones. They get them out during lunch, and the students come into the room during lunch. It isn't the most unprofessional thing, but that's the only thing I really notice. My mentor teachers are more professional than unprofessional. It pertains to teaching because the teachers need to set a good example for their students. They also need to be respectful of their coworkers, students’ parents, and the community.
