This year in my rotation sites I have learned a lot by being a teacher. I learned that you have to take charge sometimes and take the classroom in your own hands even if your not the main classroom teacher. Some of the highlights I have faced this year would be getting to know 3 great classrooms and spending six weeks with them. I have got the opportunity to do lessons of my choice with the classrooms. I didnt really have any challenges along in my rotations, I enjoyed them and was upset to see them end.

Wow, I can't believe the school year is almost over. Leaving my rotation for the last time was really hard. I have learned all about professionalism, creating good rapport, and adjusting lesson plans to meet the developmental levels of each student. There weren't many challenges other than students who just don’t have the ability to progress yet when their classmates do. I could see a lot of the kindergarteners struggle with writing and reading, while others are reading at a first grade level. Those students will be held back in kindergarten for another year just because that is where they are developmentally.
It was also a challenge to work with the middle schoolers because they just saw me as some high schooler in their class and they all wanted to be my friend, so a day when I actually had to discipline one of them, it was hard for me. After I got one of the students in trouble though, they started to respect me more. There were too many highlights to even list. :) The students were all great and I loved waking up and going to my rotation every morning. The kindergarten class and first grade classes I was in were all great and really loved when I came in. (: I loved all my rotations.

I can't believe this year is finally almost over. All of my rotations offered me something different. My first rotation was a lot of fun. It was a brand new experience. I loved all of the kids. My mentor teacher was awesome, too. She let me do as much as I could with the students. My middle school rotation was the most challenging. Since I was only about four years older than they were, they didn't really see me as an authority figure in the classroom. One boy asked for my number almost everyday. It was strange. My teacher let me do a lot though. My final two rotations were spent in the same classroom. It was definitely my favorite environment. My mentor teacher and her aides were amazing. Also, all of the kids were such sweet hearts. I loved them all. I didn't get to teach any lessons, but I got to work with a lot of the students. I mainly worked with them one-on-one. This classroom definitely impacted my life. We had a going away party on the last day. My mentor teacher and her aides bought me a picture frame and filled it with pictures from when we went to the special olympics. In the middle, they typed something up for me, and it almost made me cry. All the students wrote me a thank you card. When it was finally time for me to go, one of the boys started crying. I went over and gave him a hug and said I would visit. It was hard leaving. I've enjoyed all of my rotations, and I'm sad to see it finally end.

This last rotation was by far my favorite. I absolutely loved the whole experience. I’ve learned that it takes a lot to be a teacher. I’ve realized that it’s really hard to get all the students attention all at the same time. It’s also hard to discipline them. A challenge that I faced was disciplining the students when they misbehaved for me. The highlight was just the whole experience in general and getting to know each student and helping them learn.

I really enjoyed being at my rotation sites. I had no idea what teaching was like prior to taking this course, and I have decided that there is no other possible career for me. I have learned that children are capable of great improvement in a short span of time. I was in the same classroom during my first rotation as my last and the students there had made rapid improvement in almost all areas. The biggest highlight during the rotation was when I walked back in to Central for the first day of my rotation and the kids started jumping up and down because they were so happy to see me. The biggest challenge I faced was dealing with the hugginess of the first graders during my special education rotation.

I am so glad that I went back to my first rotation, for my last one! It was awesome! I have learned so much from Mrs. Stafford! I learned so much about teaching this whole year! I learned the most about how to individually instruct and get to know your students! Mrs. Stafford got to know each student and was able to connect with them each! One challenge that I faced was sometimes was discipline and having to be mean! I don't like to at all! But I'm going to miss the students so much and going to teach them, I always had so much fun!!

Wow! This school year went really fast. I have had so much fun throughout this school year. I learned to speak up and not be shy. Also that being organized helps class run smoother. Mrs. Hatfield showed me a lot in the classroom. She taught me how to keep a first grade classroom from turning into total chaos. I actually taught her how to keep organized. :) I have learned that being a first grade teacher can be difficult at times but I feel that it’s what I want to do. The highlight of everyday for me is just being around the students. I faced many challenges from substitute teachers who didn’t want to do anything to students becoming rowdy when the teacher walked out. I tried to handle these situations as Mrs. Hatfield would. I have really enjoyed this class and I already miss those first graders.

:) I am so sad this rotation is over! I have learned a lot about teaching this year. I have had a great experience in my rotations it really opened my eyes about teaching. I have learned about lesson plans, rapport, differentiated instructions, and professionalism. Highlights I have had were being in my kindergarten rotation and my second grade rotation. Also, learning what it is like to be a teacher is a highlight because it has helped me determine if I want to become a teacher. Some challenges I have had is my middle school rotation, and my first rotation. Also, finding out if I have what it takes to become a teacher. I still am unsure if I have what it takes to become a teacher.

This year has gone by so fast. I loved every rotation I have went too. All the rotations have opened my eyes to show me what I want to teacher later in life. One thing I have learned if to not be scared to do things out of my comfort zone. When at starlight for specail education rotation I had to help small children in the bathroom and i had to do all their dances with them that I felt was embarresing. I loved being able to work one-on-one with students. I loved being in second grade I was able to do a lot of activites of my own in the classroom. A couple things I did not like was with substitute teachers in my middle school rotation it was very difficult because I had to explain to them so many time what I was suppose to be doing. All in all I had a great year and will never forget all the things all my mentor teachers have taught me.

This whole year I have learned so much about becoming a teacher. I am so excited to pursue this in my future. The begining of the year was scary with the second graders, but as the rotations passed I felt more comfortable being infront of students and meeting my new mentor teachers. I liked the interaction between me and the other students and learning different ways the students learn. To become a better teacher, one must go through many experiences. Everyday was a positive experience for me. The hardest part was leaving the students and the substitute teachers. Other than those two things I have an enjoyable experience. I have learned more things than I could have ever imagined. In all, I had a great year, and I owe so much thanks to each of my mentor teachers, and their students.
